Year 5/6 Stockport Tag-Rugby Finalists

A big congratulations to our Tag-Rugby team who competed in last week’s Stockport Schools’ Tag-Rugby Final at Heaton Moor Rugby Club. The team won all three pool games, winning 6:1 against Cale Green, 7:4 against Bradshaw Hall and 5:2 against Hazel Grove. They then progressed to the semi-final as the highest placed team, beating Pownall Green 5:3. In the final, they faced Norris Bank whom they beat in the first round before Christmas. Norris Bank came back from 3:2 down to equalise in the final seconds of normal time and then went on to win by golden try in extra time. Both teams go through to the Greater Manchester Winter Games with the finals being held on 15th March. Well done everyone.

Who is the greatest scientist of all times?

The children in Year 6 have been researching about different scientists who have made a difference in their field. They have then written scripts and created videos to persuade you that their scientist is the greatest. Please watch the videos – Year 6 would like you to pick your favourite and vote by adding a comment to the one of your choice.

Blackden Trust Writing

Children from Year 6 in Tithe Barn along with fellow students from Norris Bank and Mersey Vale, had an excellent time at the Medicine House with the Blackden Trust on Thursday. The children had a great time exploring the site, its history and archaeology and being challenged in their writing through poetry. It was great for them to be involved in this cutting edge project for Stockport schools.

Stockport Lacrosse Champions Again!

Having won the Priestnall Lacrosse tournament, the Tithe Barn lacrosse team qualified for the Stockport final for the third year running. On Wednesday, the team travelled to Reddish Vale to take part in the finals and were drawn against Greave, Rose Hill, High Lane and Gatley in the group stage. Tithe Barn won all the matches and were the only school to do so, winning by 11:4, 13:1, 7:3 and 8:4 respectively. The team qualified through to the semi finals as the highest placed team and once again met Greave, winning this time by 10:3. We progressed to the finals against Mellor Primary and again won, this time by 6:4 in what was a nail biting final. Well done to the team who along with Mellor, will progress to the Greater Manchester finals on 24th March. The great result is testament to the hard work and dedication of the children and the investment that Tithe Barn had out into PE, sport, lacrosse and extra curricular activities over the last few years.

Tithe Henge

It’s not often that snow comes to The Heatons but the children have really enjoyed creating their snowmen and the weird and wonderful structures that can be seen on the school field. They won’t last long though as the sun is melting them rapidly!
