Year 1’s briliant trip to Eureka!

Posted in News, Year 1 by Y1Teacher on 21st July, 2010

Year 1 have written this about our visit to Eureka, yesterday.

On Tuesday we were very excited. Everyone had a little group. We got on the coach and sat down for an hour. We were all very good. We played some games like ‘Rock, paper, scissors’ and we sang some pirate songs. Rosie went to sleep!

When we got there we played in the sandpit while Ms Hawker got the tickets. We went to look at ’Me and my Body’, ‘The Town Square’ and ‘Our Global Garden’ because those are the things we’ve been learning this year. We met ‘Scoot’ the robot and ‘Zid’ the alien. We robbed the bank, went down the Magic Corridor, and built an igloo in the ice garden.  We all loved the body exhibition. We saw a heart beating. We saw how far we could stretch. We looked at blood. We shouted in a giant ear and sat in a giant mouth and found the wobbly tooth. We found how tall we were and how heavy and we saw a skeleton riding a bike and it was our skeleton!

We had a brilliant time! We went back on the coach to school and it was hometime. We said ”Thankyou’ to the peaple who helped us: Mrs. Osborne, Mrs. Stanley, Rosie, Ben, Miss Thami, Hannah, Grace Woosey’s mum, Henry’s mum, Chris’topher’s mum and Sam’s mum. We were still tired the next day in the morning!

Up, up and away..

For our “Birthday Bash”, Miss Vose had a great idea and brought  into school some chinese lanterns for the children.

Unfortunately due to the change in the weather this had to be postponed throughout the day on Thursday and eventually was moved to Friday.

We did manage to do test on one Thursday, before the weather changed.

On Friday we did get to light a few of the lanterns but due to the windy weather, we had a little difficulty in keeping them lit long enough for the hot air to fill the lanterns and for them to rise into the air.

It was a brilliant experience for the children and many of them had never seen these before.
