A Viking Adventure
This half term we will be travelling to the viking village on the outskirts of york to spend a day as vikings. This will happen on the 26th of March. Before we go we will look at how the Vikings lived, what they we’re like and find out a little bit about them.
Why not find out a little yourself by looking at the following websites
Find out about the vikings from the Jorvik site

Explore a viking village with these video clips

Look at the timeline and play games at;

Bring some more websites or information you’ve found into school to share with the class… what interesting things can you find out about the Vikings and why they invaded and settled on our shores.

Myths and Legends Homework
Over the course of half term, the children have been asked to produce a story in the style of a myth. below is a powerpoint presentation to guide them in their writing, as well as sections of a help ‘pyramid’ to give them a few language ideas.
The children will be creatining their own books from this activity in school so it is vital that they have a good go at producing the content first at home.
I hope you find the resources above helpful, and if you have any questions I can be contacted via my e-mail address at peterjones@tithebarn.stockport.sch.uk
Children can access their online e-mails at;

Thank you
Mr Jones
Out First Draft Adverts!
After planning our adverts on paper, we’ve had a go at making some eye-catching adverts for a magazine, using revelation natural art to draw our own pictures, then copying and pasting into powerpoint. We then saved our powerpoint with a different background, an interesting title and slogan (as a jpeg). We even tried to hook the reader into thinking about buying our product!
