Green Energy for Schools

The Green Energy for Schools Programme is a national initiative aimed at reducing the carbon emissions in schools across the UK and promoting the awareness of renewable energy amongst children. This project is jointly funded by the Co-operative Group and the UK Government’s low carbon building programme phase 2.  The project has set the target to install one hundred Solar PV Systems in schools throughout the country.

Thanks to the links created when Mr and Mrs Buckley supported the Pyramid with their charity abseil event in April, Direct Sales at the Co-operative Bank Pyramid has nominated Tithe Barn Primary School to be considered for inclusion in this project. If we are successful, the school will have a Solar PV System donated and installed on their roof.

Solar Century are the framework suppliers for this programme and at this stage are assessing the suitability of the school for the Solar PV installations. Â If we fulfil the requirements eg: size, north/ south orientation of the school roof, a surveyor will visit the school, assess our facilities and make a final decision.

We are very excited at the prospect of having a renewable energy facility at the school and learning more about how much ‘Green Energy’ we can create. We are all extremely grateful to our friends from Direct Sales at the Pyramid for nominating the school and sending their best wishes and support while we await the decision.
