Another fantastic Story!
Here is another fantastic Story from Bridie in Year 3 sent in to Mr Jones via E-mail. Mr Jones can only convert digital data onto the website, so if you have a saved copy of your fantastic homework, e-mail it into me!

Anyway time to read this story and leave a comment about it!
The Second Half of the week!
Wednesday went well again, with Miss Vose and Miss Brown worlking hard with the staff to develop resources and teaching ideas within and outside of the classroom. The after school training session looked at the use of Encarta from the computers to find out about the world, view maps and an interactive globe and view animations and videos on a whole range of subjects. That evening we visited Wonderboom airport where we had a wonderful meal and spent time with teachers and staff from Khensani before heading back home. Thursday saw more time in the classroom and Mr Jones was able to spend time in Tall Freddahs class and record some of the children speaking Tsonga, ready to teach his children in Year 3!During the afternoon we visited a few of the schools in the area, including the Secondary school where we met Tinswala, a child who visited the UK and stayed with The Vose family!  Miss Brown and Miss Vose, after spending time with teachers in their classroom, then led a session in which all the school developed resources and played games to implement in each of the teachers classrooms to make teaching and learning a more enjoyable and interactive experience. That afternoon we went to a big shopping centre and went Ice skating with Emily and Limo. Mr Jones managed once round with all the grace of an elephant before calling it a day, While Miss Vose and Miss Brown glided gracefully across the ice! After shopping then for resources for the school, we went for a meal and then home to bed.
Friday – Our Last Day in School
While Miss Brown and Miss Vose again spent time in classrooms and working with teachers, Mr Jones took several teachers out to a school called Northridge Primary School to do some training on the Internet. Sadly we had not been successful in getting the Khensani Computers online but one phone-call to a very supportive headteacher of a school nearer the city meant these facilities were available.
After a 40 min ‘bus/taxi’ ride we got to the school and the training began. the six teachers responded brilliantly and produced some good work which can be seen on their website.

Because of weather more suited to Manchester not Soshanguve, we unfortunately missed out on the dancing that the children had planned, but that did not dampen our spirits, and after some more top training from Miss Vose and Miss Brown, we went to a farewell BBQ in which we were given robes to wear and bring back with us!
Our visit was short but very fulfilling and we hope that we can share what we have learnt and done with our children in school, and that both schools are better for the visit.
Starting in School…
We started Monday by looking at the teachers in the classrooms, talking to the children and taking lots and lots of photographs to share with all the children in Tithe Barn!
Mr Jones spent a little less time in the class as he was busy chasing after the people from Gauteng Online (not really running after them, just trying to organise internet access!)
The afternoon saw all the teachers come into the computer room to learn how to use the draw function in word and powerpoint, and how to add photographs to documents. We were all very pleased with the progress that they made and how well the session was attended!
On Tuesday Mr Jones spent time talking to Michelle from 2Simple who is trying very hard to get some of the exciting software we have in school installed on the Khensani computers. (A very big thank you from all of us in the UK and South Africa) He did get time to see some of the children learning about time on a digital clock before being whisked away for his very first Tsonga lesson!
Miss Brown and Miss Vose spent time helping the teachers in the classrooms and started to make some classroom resources to help the children and staff. The afternoon training session was again well attended, where staff learnt how to create their very own Powerpoint presentation using custom animations and importing photos. Again the work created was brilliant, and we’ll share this with you when we get back to school!
Here’s hoping the rest of the week will run smoothly, and that Mr Jones will finally catch the people from Gauteng Online!
