Horrid Henry’s House
This week Year 3 have been learning about symmetry. On Friday they had to solve a problem using their symmetry skills. The first group had the following problem;
Horrid Henry wants a house that is only built from symmetrical shapes, strictly no asymmetrical shapes allowed. The windows must be made from shapes with 1 line of symmetry. Below are the houses that the children made.Â

The next group had the following problem; Horrid Henry wants a house made of symmetrical shapes. His roof must be made from shapes with one line of symmetry and his windows must be made from shapes with more than two lines of symmetry. Below are the houses they made;

Grandparents’ Day.
We invited in the childrens grandparents during the last week of the half term, to talk to the children about what they remember about being at school and what toys they used to play with. We had a fantastic afternoon – the childen loved talking to our visitors and I think our visitors had a great time too! The grandparents were really impressed with our whiteboard – it’s very different to blackboards from when they were at school. They enjoyed helping the children make some pop up toys out of paper and card.Why dont you ask your mum or Dad what it was like when they were at school?
