Continents Day in Reception

Posted in News, Reception by Miss Stonier on 31st January, 2010

As part of continents day, Mrs Bridgehouse and Mrs Maher have created a Antarctic area outside of the Reception classroom. There is an igloo and lots of clothes particularly designed for scientific Antarctic explorers (otherwise known as the Reception class children), to wear to keep nice and warm in the extreme temperatures- !

They have very important jobs to do while working in the Antarctic area, which includes weighing and measuring the penguins and looking out for anything unusual.

The children have also had to think about what they would write in a postcard home to their friends and family about what they have seen in Antarctica….here are some examples of the childrens pictures and writing.

Penguins

Posted in News, Reception by Miss Stonier on 30th January, 2010

The children in Reception class have been learning all about the different penguins that live in Antarctica. These include Adelie, Chinstrap, Gentoo, Emperor and Macaroni Penguins.

I am sure if you ask the children, they will be able to tell you lots of information about the penguins in Antarctica as well as about Antarctica itself.

The children along with Mrs Maher have been super busy making some lovely penguins and you can have a look at some of them below
