Posted in Art and Design, News, Reception, Year 1, Year 2 by pjones on 29th March, 2010

Lots of children in Key Stage 1 painted trees for Mr Jones to use in the making of our new Brainforest Way  website. Here are the 5 we chose for it, representing 5 areas; Positive Attitude (a tree with big roots!), Learning, ICT, Global Citizenship and the Environment.

What do you think of them?

The Easter bunny has visited our class!

Excitement has hit Reception class today…The Great Big Easter Egg Hunt!

Mrs Bridgehouse told the children when they came back from dinner, that the Easter bunny has been for a visit and left some surprises for the children to find in the “garden”.

The children correctly guessed that the bunny had been leaving Chocolate eggs, but the bunny also left some chocolate chicks. Everyone was given an Easter cup and then they could go outside and hunt for the special surprises.

You will see from the pictures that the children had a great time and loved hunting the eggs – some children even spotted the tail of the Easter bunny hiding in the bushes!

Spring has reached Reception class

Posted in News, Reception by Miss Stonier on 26th March, 2010

Spring is in the air…….

The children have been finding out about Spring and have been out on a detective walk around the school grounds looking for the signs that spring is coming.

On the walk all of the children spotted lots of signs, such as the daffodils that are popping up all over the school, the crocus’ and the buds on the trees.  The children looked in the school pond and found frogspawn too. Mrs Maher kindly took a sample of the frogspawn, so that the children could look a little more closely back in the classroom.

In the classroom, one of the activities has been to make a daffodil for the spring display. The children have been fantastic and really enjoyed getting stuck into the cutting and gluing of the shapes.
