Posted in News, Reception by Miss Stonier on 31st May, 2010

Reception are now the proud owners of our very own dingle dangle scarecrow..with a flippy floppy hat…!!!!

Mrs Maher and Mrs Stanley have been busy working with the children to dress and then stuff the scarecrow with straw to fill him out a little…..Now he can come and protect all the seeds we have been busy planting in our allotment  :-)

The children absolutely loved it – we just need to think of a name for him now!

Planting with Mr Cooper

Posted in Eco-Warriors, Gardening, Year 5 by pjones on 28th May, 2010

Mr Cooper came in today to help us plant our cabbages and talk to us about how we can look after them. Here are a few picture of us out planting them into our plot after growing them from seed.

The butterflies are released….

Posted in News, Reception by Miss Stonier on 27th May, 2010

Reception class have been closely watching our Caterpillars over the last few weeks turn into Chrysalis’.

We had a lovely surprise when we came in on Monday morning and found two beautiful butterflies waiting for us!

They  have been fed some oranges and given sugar water and the children have been able to view them up close all week.

Today we decided we would let them go and stretch their wings..although butterflies are known for coming back to the place they were born!
