Welcome Back
Welcome back, I hope you all had a lovely break. The children have all settled back into school and are working hard.
We have some exciting activities coming up this term including, Science Week, a visit from a touring theatre company who will perform Jungle Book, and finally World Book Day on 2nd March.
Once again we will be asking the children to come to school dressed as a character from a book and we will be having some exciting activities to encourage a love of reading.
We will be showcasing all of the exciting events this term on our new website which will launch later this term.

AVIVA Bid
A huge thank you for all your support with our application for funding for new computers. We are extremely excited that our bid was successful and will be installing fifteen new computers in the GCC after half term, once we have received the funding.
We would like to invite you to join us on Friday 10th February at 3.15pm for cake and a demonstration of what our new interactive boards can do to enhance your child’s learning at Tithe Barn.
Science Week
We are currently in the process of planning a week of exciting activities as part of the National Science Week. It will take place in school from Monday 13th March – Friday 17th March.
Mrs Patton is currently looking for volunteers and scientists to support our special week. If you are interested in volunteering please contact her on angela.patton@tithebarn.stockport.sch.uk
Key Dates
- 10th February 3.15pm – Open classrooms and interactive board demonstration
- 17th February 9am – FOTB Meeting
- 2nd March – World Book Day
- 8th March – Parents’ Evening
- Monday 13th-17th March – Science Week
FOTB Next Meeting
The next meeting of FOTB will take place on Friday 17th February at 9am. Everyone is welcome and I do hope you can join us and share your ideas and opinions on Tithe Barn and how we can continue to work together to develop the school.
We will be having an evening meeting after half term for those who are unable to join us during the day. The date will be announced shortly in the next newsletter.
Bags to School
On Tuesday 14th March we will be collecting clothes to be recycled and to raise funds for school. The more bags we collect the more we raise!
Bid Writing Working Party
Following on from our success with the AVIVA bid, we are now looking into alternative sources of funding for school.
As part of this process we are setting up a working party. If you feel that you could support the school and contribute to this we would be delighted if you could attend a meeting on Friday 3rd March at 2pm.
If you are unable to attend and would like to help support the school, please email headteacher@tithebarn.stockport.sch.uk
Recycling Batteries
The Eco Warriors and Mr Tongue have now organised a collection point for batteries that are ready to be recycled. If you wish to bring any batteries to school you will find the box in the main entrance.
Thank you
Skipping Workshop
On Wednesday we had an action packed day with a Skipping workshop for every class. The children learnt a variety of different skipping techniques and games.
Our new Year 4 Play Leaders and Mid-day Assistants also received training on different techniques and games they could lead at playtime. On Friday lunch time the playground was full of skipping ropes and children actively engaged in a range of games.
A huge thank you to Mr Blackburn for organising such a fantastic day which seems to be having a great impact already.
