It has been a very busy few weeks at school. We have had two fantastic assemblies from Year 2 and Year 5. Year 2 educated us all about germs and bacteria. Year 5 showcased a wide range of hobbies and interest. It was a pleasure to watch the children share their learning and interests with the both their parents and the other children. The assemblies can be watched again on the classes’ E-school pages.
Operation Eagle Eye was a great success, children from Year 6 patrolled the streets armed with a speed camera and surveyed the local traffic. Year 2 explored the local area learning how to cross the road safely. Year 5 investigated how to strengthen and reinforce vehicles and Year 4 examined the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike.
On Monday 5th February I took a group of children from school to purchase new books for our exciting library. The children were randomly selected for the trip and the school councilors had spent considerable time discussing with their classes different books, authors and themes that they were interested in.
Armed with a very large shopping list we set off to Madeleine Lindleys in Chadderton to purchase lots of amazing books. The children were very helpful and filled the baskets with amazing books and we spent £3500 on books for the library. It was a pleasure to take the children there as the next step in creating our wonderful library. The library will be officially opened on the 1st March as part of our World Book Day Celebrations.

World Book Day
1st March 2018
As part of our world book day celebrations we are asking all of our children and staff to come to school dressed as character from a book and to bring a copy of the book with them.
Come and Read
This year we would like to invite parents in to read to the children, we are particularly keen to welcome dads and grandads. If you are available to join us please speak to your child’s class teacher.
We will also be having a visit from the author Jo Welch who will be talking about being an author and delivering activities throughout school.
Wind in the Willows
This year our theme for World Book Day will be the wonderful story ‘The Wind in the Willows’. Throughout the day we will be having activities based on this book. We will share the day through our website and twitter account.
