Tithe Barn Times – 19th November 2018
Learning Opportunities
Once again, this term seems to be flying by and there are lots of exciting activities taking place in school.
From the Stone Age to the Space Race our new topics are encouraging our children to be inquisitive learners who are curious about the world around them. We are continuing to showcase all the different aspects of learning taking place in school via our E-schools platform and our YouTube channel Tithe Barn TV.

Stone Age Visitor
Years 3 and 4 had an exciting visitor on Wednesday 14th November. As part of their topic of the Stone Age their visitor came to discuss what it was like and how things changed through the different ages. It was a highly engaging morning and enabled the children to be immersed in their learning.

Vision for Tithe Barn
We have spent the last 12 months reviewing our school vision with our children, staff and governors. We would like to share our ideas with parents and gather your opinions. We would like to invite you to a ‘Vision Afternoon’ on Wednesday 21st November at 2pm. I look forward to seeing you then. Following this meeting we will then send out further information to all of our parents.
Learning at Tithe Barn
As part of our approach to developing learners at Tithe Barn we now have a weekly assembly on a Friday where every class shares something they have been learning about that week. All of the children take it in turns to speak and share what their class has been doing. We have shared one of the assemblies via E-schools if you wish to watch it.
Bags to School
Thank you to everyone who donated unwanted items in our recent Bags2Schools Collection. We raised an amazing £220.40.
School Crossing
Please can I remind parents and children of the importance of crossing the road using both our wonderful lollipop person Bob and the island. It is extremely important that we keep every member of our community safe.
Thank you for your support with this matter

Welcome Back
Welcome back to a very busy half term as we begin the countdown to Christmas! Please find attached a document providing further details on all the different events which will be occurring in school this half term. We hope you find it useful.
I hope you all had a lovely half term. Many of our children spent time during the holidays with Mr Stamper on our Forest Schools Days. Listening to the feedback from children and parents they have been fantastic days and I would like to thank Mr Stamper for giving up his time in the school holidays. If your child is interested in attending we hope to offer similar days in the future.
I look forward to another great half term, with lots of wonderful learning in school.
AVIVA
We are beginning to develop our outside space further and think about how we can enrich the wonderful grounds that the children have access to. In the spring term we will be consulting with parents and children about how they would like the grounds to be developed.
As part of this development we are hoping to have a musical trail in the playground. As our school budget is very limited and funding to schools continues to be reduced we are seeking funding from AVIVA.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please use the link below to vote for our school and help us to meet our target of 4000 votes as this should enable us to reach the final. Every vote counts! Please support our school and encourage others to do so.

Book Bus
Thank you to everyone who boarded the Book Bus when it visited school recently. Your purchases raised £193.15 in free books for our new library.
Parking
I would like to politely remind parents to ensure that they show due consideration to our neighbours when parking their cars. Please do not block drives of local residents and ensure that you park in a safe place and not on the pavement.
Can I also remind parents that the school car park is to be only used for parents and children who have a disabled badge.
E-Schools
As part of our approach to streamlining communication and enabling parents to have access to as much information as possible we use an online platform called E-Schools.
Parents are able to make payments to school, access letters that have been sent home from school, keep updated on what is going on in school through the class pages and also access the instructions for their child’s weekly homework. The use of this platform reduces the amount of paper that is used in school and enables parents to access information easily. We ask all that all parents regularly check E-schools and if you having difficulties accessing it please let the office know.
