7th July 2017
The weeks seem to be whizzing by and we have many fun activities on the horizon this term. I am looking forward to Sports Day, the Year 6 production and the Summer Fair. I would like to invite you to our meet the teacher evening next week on Thursday 13th July at 3.30pm or 6pm. This will be a short meeting to introduce you to your child’s new year group and explain expectations and learning. You will also get the opportunity to ask any questions and I do hope you will find this meeting useful. Thank you to everyone who has requested a place at the breakfast and after school club from September. You will shortly receive a letter offering you a place, a handbook and a registration form for you to complete.
Thank you for all your support and have a lovely weekend
Three Peaks Challenge
Last weekend Billy, Jonah, Tom, Jamie, Hamish and their dads completed the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours. They battled with the weather and lack of sleep but were triumphant.
They completed the challenge in 24 hours and have been raising funds for school to support the purchase of google chrome books. They have raised a staggering £930 so far and we are very proud of their achievement. If you wish to sponsor the boys, please visit justgiving.com/crowdfunding/david-morton-3
The Eco Warriors are collecting any old mobile phones for recycling. Please send any unwanted phones to school and we will use any funds generated towards a new Chrome Book.

We had an amazing day with the visiting story teller Eric Madden. Eric spent a fantastic day with us and each class had the opportunity to listen to stories around the campfire! The children and staff have already requested he returns to school in the future. I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Blackburn, Mrs Morton and Jane Sebire for organising such a fantastic opportunity.
On Wednesday 12th July it will be our annual Sports Day (our reserve date is Tuesday 18th July). All children will need to wear their PE kit all day and can arrive in school ready to go.
Sports Day will begin at 9.30am and finishes at 11.30am. All of the children will have a packed lunch (either provided by Dolce or home). The children will work in mixed teams from Reception to Year 6 and move around different activities. This will then be followed by a parents’ race.
In the afternoon the children take part in more traditional activities as a class such as an egg and spoon race. Parents will be informed of the timings of these activities nearer the day and are very welcome to stay for the afternoon as well. We look forward to a great day and hope you canjoin us!
This year, the children in Year 6 will be performing Roald Dahl’s adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children have all been busy preparing for their production and have created some great props this week. Every class will all get to watch the dress rehearsal.
Then the performances will take place on
Tuesday 18th July at 1.30pm and 6.30pm.
Following feedback from parents we will be reviewing our approach to class photographs next term. We will be sending out a short parental questionnaire to gauge views and then will respond and if appropriate we will offer alternatives to this year’s provision.
