A few exciting things that have happened in the sporting arena for our children

A small team of children from Y6, Y5 and Y4 – Isla, Lewis, Edie (Y6) Annie, Lilly (Y5), Sonny, William, Maryanne, Pippa, Abby and Amelie (Y4) entered a sponsored swimming event – hosted by Stockport Grammar and put on by The Rotary Club of Stockport Lamplighter. The basic idea was the more lengths they swam as a team then the more money they would raise for charity.

Each team was allocated an hour to swim and WOW did they swim! When combining their totals, both teams swam a magnificent 362 lengths. Impressive!

We thank them (and Miss Heap who organised the swim) for all their efforts.

2 Tithe Barn sisters -Ellena and Megan- put their best foot forward this term to make up part of a new winning team. They joined 2 girls from Moss Hey School to run in a Manchester Harriers Primary School Relay race.

The format of the race was a relay. Each of the girls took a turn at running the course. With Megan setting a fantastic early pace, Ellena brought home the team in magnificent style – 1st place for the newly formed team.

Just shows what you can do when you are all fixed on the same goal!

Running is good for you I am told – I appreciate the many benefits to this sport. To this end, the girls are going to be the Running Ambassadors for Tithe Barn. I really want to pick up the challenge of smile for a mile. Clearly we have some hurdles to get over to achieve this aim. However, with this pair of talented runners leading the way, we will not be short of enthusiasm and drive.

Off to SLOVAKIA to train…

Tom (Y5) has spent a few days away from school at an intensive Ice hockey training camp in Tréncin. Tom was representing The North of England.

Lots of practise and a few games played. His team won 2 of the 3 matches they played – Tom getting on the score sheet too.

If you ever get the chance to visit Altrincham, take a look at the Ice Rink. You might find Tom flying around with his team mates – Manchester Storm Academy.

Well done Tom – lots of brilliant memories for you to take away from the trip I am sure.

Keep it under wraps…

Some of our talented athletes like to keep their talents under wraps.

When I find out about it, and with their approval obviously, I like to share their stories.

Below you can see Grace in Year 6 in her Lancashire lacrosse kit. Grace was selected to play for Lancs U13s Girls Lacrosse Team at an Inter Counties Tournament. This is very impressive seeing as she is 2 years under that age group.

The B Team she played on finished second in the tournament which again is very impressive.
