Last Year was a brilliant fun event , great music, delicious home cooked food with woodland fun and crafts. Here are some of the photos for those who didn’t get a chance to come along. We are hoping this year is even better and more families and friends will join in. We already have some great bands lined up so watch this space for more info…

If you can help with setting up the activities, face painting, the bar or food please let us know.

Also if you are or know anyone in a band who could do a 15 minute session that would be great, or can you help with face painting!! So please djoin us in what must be the most fun you have have this September.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!

Friends of Tithe Barn Summer Fayre

We are absolutely delighted to report that our Summer Fair raised a whopping £3,250, dwarfing last years’ total and smashing the £3K mark which I don’t think has been done for many years!! Thanks again to everybody that donated, helped out and flashed their cash on the day, we hope you had fun!

Mrs. Muncaster is a lady with big plans for Tithe Barn and she is happy for us to share with you her priority for our fundraising as quickly as possible – interactive, touch screen whiteboards in every classroom, just like in our Reception classroom and thus building on the ipads and ipad minis across the school that FOTB has already supported. This technology will have a massive impact on our children’s learning and as each class gets theirs you’ll be able to see exactly where your money is being spent and how it will benefit your kids.

More details to follow from school but in the mean time, let’s hope the weather is kind to us again for the Family Festival on the afternoon of Saturday 24th September – with another record fund raising event we could have the first couple of whiteboards installed in school before we know it…..

Christmas Fayre

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported, attended and helped at all the events in December. The children had a great time at the Christmas Fairs and discos and because of the kind donations from you and local businesses the raffle prizes were great. With everyones continued efforts and support we made an amazing £2000 over the 3 events. With the funding for Stockport Schools and Tithe Barn School in particular being some of the lowest funded schools in the country, our school desperately needs this extra income that you kindly provide from supporting these events. We will keep you updated on how this money is spent to help our children’s learning.
We would like to thank all the local businesses who supported us with Raffle prizes, if you visit any of these places please say thanks. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and hope 2016 is a fabulous year.

Another big thank you to Hayley Townley and her team for the brilliant Bingo night!! We had an amazing event with over 100 happy bingo players, it was a fabulous family night and raised over £450.

Big Thankyou for the Big Dig

Friday 13th February  was the first of our Tithe Barn Big Dig. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped to start this year’s growing season.

image imageIMG_1151[1] IMG_1146[1] IMG_1147[1] IMG_1142[1] IMG_1143[1] IMG_1150[1] IMG_1145[1] IMG_1153[1] IMG_1144[1] IMG_1149[1]

The  children and adults had a great time preparing the allotment, digging over the beds and clearing away. We also had some great learning moments whilst planting the bulbs, which were very kindly donated. The children were very  knowledgeable about the difference between seeds and bulbs. We learnt all about the different parts of the bulbs and guessed what they would grow into. They also figured out which way up they should be planted and learnt about different growing conditions for plants. We discussed how squirrels liked to dig for the bulbs and what we needed to do to stop them. We even had some great conversations about what plants need to grow and that Nitrogen fixation occurs naturally in the air by means of lightning, I think we have some budding scientists !! But most of all we all had fun getting dirty and getting out in the fresh air.

We will let you know when the next Big Dig  will be and everyone is welcome. It was wonderful to see so many Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles. So if you can spare an hour to join in with the learning and growing please come along. Thank you to everyone who made this such a fun great afternoon.

Thankyou!!

Just to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this a wonderful festive start this Christmas!!  The children’s performances were amazing and eveyone has had a wonderful time at their Christmas Discos, the pantomine and the festive Family event. Special thanks goes to Father Christmas for making time to visit the children and talking to them in his Grotto, we would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Swizzels Matlow who kindly donated our children some fabulous sweets and lollies. The kids really appreciated these treats at the Christmas Disco and the Festive Family day so we would like to wish everyone at Swizzels Matlow a very Merry Christmas!!

Meeting at KRO bar 11th November @ 8.30pm – Everyone welcome

Hello All

Hope everyone had a great half term.

We are going to have a parents and friends of Tithe Barn get together at KRO bar on Tuesday 11th November @ 8.30 pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and discuss ideas for up and coming events and suggestions for next year. We really need help and support to organise fun events, whilst we raise much needed funds.Just one hour will make a huge difference so you don’t have to give up lots of your time.

Our school relies on the goodwill and support parents give to fund not just luxuries, but simple essentials too. Over the past year the money raised has funded buying essential computer equipment to support the national curriculum, school trips, Sports equipment, kids cookery and arts.

Over the next few weeks we will be converting an under utilised space into a much needed first Aid room and storage for musical instruments, plus we have sourced metal sheds so the children can get to the sports equipment and use it more easily.

Over the half term the cabling in the School for the children’s computers has been fixed, so the GGC will be OK to use again. The money received from Stockport council does not cover paying for these repairs so we need to raise funds to cover this cost and the cost of keeping our school a safe fun place to learn. We have secured a £10k grant to start work on the early years outdoor play to create a stimulating learning environment that is required. We also need new playground markings, some new tarmac, new curtains/ blinds to name a few things. To do any of these repairs we will have to find funds so we are trying to be creative about sourcing grants, and providing fun community events that our children and families can enjoy. Please join in helping to keep our school a great place to learn and grow, come along for a drink and a chat at KRO bar and support our school.
