Trudy Mclindon Chair of governor
If you would like to contact our chair of governors please email trudy.mclindon@gmail.com
I have been a parent at Tithe Barn school for nine years. In April 2014 I was elected as a Parent Governor and from 2017 have been the Chair of Governors. I believe primary education is fundamental to shaping what our children become and equipping them for the future. I wanted to be involved in supporting the school’s vision to develop cheerful, confident learners. In April 2018 I was co opted by the Governing Board and an keen to develop my role as Chair of Governors to provide an enriched learning environment ,where every child has the opportunity to develop a love of learning and achieve their potential. In my professional life I am a business consultant with over twenty years experience in retail, developing and mentoring management teams. Specialising in store, interior designs and property.

SEN Governor
I am now retired. After university (BA in Modern Languages; MSc in Applied Social Science), the first half of my career was spent as a social worker and then manager in a social services department. The second, as a senior executive in a national charity providing care and support to people with a learning disability and autism.
We have only lived in Heaton Mersey for a year, having moved here to support our daughter who gave birth to twins in January. Our three other grandchildren live in Sweden, so we don’t see as much of them! It is very interesting to observe the differences between the two childcare and educational systems.
Before we moved from Oxfordshire, I had been lucky enough to spend just over a year as a governor in our local village school. It was an extremely rewarding experience that prompted my application for the current role.

Mike Fitzjohn local authority governor- Co opted
I was first elected as a parent governor in 1984 and have been a governor of the School in some guise ever since. I have been Chair of Governors on two occasions, from 1986 to 1992, and from 2006 to September 2015. I have witnessed some amazing highs – the ever fabulous children which the School continues to produce, some hugely committed adults, and the OFSTED Inspector in 2009 who said “I wish I could give you higher than ‘Outstanding'” – and a few more challenging moments, not least being ‘pig in the middle’ in the 2013 Peel Moat debate. One of the few advantages of being my age (67) is that one can take the long term view: there will always be day to day concerns (which staff and Governors will try to address) but, if children continue to work hard and play hard after they leave the School, there is no limit to their achievements – I look at my own children and their peers and see highly successful teachers, doctors, vets, accountants, barristers, businessmen and women, international sportspeople, actors, and many other occupations.. And all with that caring nature so carefully honed by the Tithe Barn ethos. By profession I am a Town Planner and, prior to retirement, worked in Local Government, national Government, and for Sport England.

I became a co-opted governor in January 2017, and am on the learning committee and a link governor for science. I currently work for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence as a project manager for digital services and have previously worked for other government departments, which has given me experience of government policy and managing public projects. Prior to joining the civil service, I was a biochemist and I have a particular interest in encouraging science and technology in schools, which I also do through the STEM ambassador programme.

I am delighted to take up my first Governors role at Tithe Barn, and am committed to working hard and getting involved in the school to make it the best it can possibly be for our and future children.
I have worked in HR for a number of years at various companies and currently work for Thomas Cook and I hope that my HR experience and background can assist the school moving forward.

My name is Saskia, I’m originally from Manchester but have time spent time studying photography and film in Blackpool and Sheffield and then working in the South East. I came back to Manchester in 2002 to work at The University of Manchester in Widening Participation. I now work as the Creative Development Manager at Z-arts, an arts charity for children’s and families in Hulme. My role is to oversee the creative and education programme and help to secure funds for new projects. I value the role of creativity in education and want to help Tithe Barn ensure that all children reach their full potential and foster a love of learning that will help them achieve all of their goals.
