Tithe Barn News March 2018
1st March 2018
We are currently in the process of populating our new e-schools website which will then be the site to visit for all information. During this time of transition please use the e-school site for all payments and to access E-pay and new letters. The old site still provides a wealth of information and we hope to have the new site running after Easter.
On Tuesday 8th March we celebrated the start of Science week at Tithe Barn with a visit from a planetarium. The children in KS1 and Reception explored the life of dinosaurs and the children in KS2 explored astronomy. It was a fantastic start to Science week and thank you to Mrs Patton for organising it. We look forward to our visitors and activities next week.

29th March Easter Eggstravaganza
This year we will be holding an Eggstravaganza in school on Thursday 29th March 2018. The aim is to raise money for the children’s chosen charity; for school and to have some fun!
The junior children will be running stalls in small groups, whilst the infant children will run a stall or activity as a class. Children are allowed to bring a small amount of money, preferably in small coins to spend on the day.
We will also be holding a decorated egg competition; we will be looking for entries where we can see how independent the children have been in their creations! A secret judge will be awarding prizes in the following categories:
- Love of reading
- Sport e.g. World Cup, Winter Olympics,etc
- Challenging yourself- growth mindset and learning in action
We are looking forward to a successful day and thank you for your support.
Thanks to Mr Stamper’s hard work we have successfully received a grant for £180 towards equipment for our Forest Schools. This will be used to purchase equipment to continue to develop our provision. This week, we visited the site in Marple to collect our award.
World Book Day 23rd March 2018
As part of our world book day celebrations we are asking all of our children and staff to come to school dressed as a character from a book and to bring a copy of the book with them.
Come and Read
This year we would like to invite parents in to read to the children, we are particularly keen to welcome dads and grandads. If you are available to join us please speak to your child’s class teacher.
We will also be having a visit from the author Jo Welch who will be talking about being an author and delivering activities throughout school.
Wind in the Willows
This year our theme for World Book Day will be the wonderful story ‘The Wind in the Willows’. Throughout the day we will be having activities based on this book. We will share the day through our website and twitter account.
We are looking forward to a very exciting day in school and thank you for your support.
